WESLANDIA honors the misfits--and the creators--among us.Enter the witty, intriguing world of Weslandia Now that school isover, Wesley needs a summer project. He's learned that eachcivilization needs a staple food crop, so he decides to sow agarden and start his own - civilization, that is. He turns over aplot of earth, and plants begin to grow. They soon tower above himand bear a curious-looking fruit. As Wesley experiments, he findsthat the plant will provide food, clothing, shelter, and evenrecreation. It isn't long before his neighbors and classmatesdevelop more than an idle curiosity about Wesley - and exactly howhe is spending his summer vacation.

這繪本誕生在一個鼓勵奇思異想，鼓勵與眾不同的國度真是太正常了。我不知道國內的教育者會如何看待這樣的書，以及這樣的書對孩子的影響。

子川喜歡這本書，我想吸引他的，一是很炫的畫面，二是很酷的Wesley，能有自己的王國（每個孩子的夢想）。而一些深層的東西，我想他應該還不 能體會到。我喜歡這本書，是它給我很好的啟示，如果人生不隨大流，始終保持住自己的節奏，也許會有意想不到的效果。

樓下有同學提到“自我認同”，Weslandia不是簡單的“自我認同”主題，奇思異想的科幻色彩非常濃重，也是最吸引眼球之處。他的另一本科幻繪本Time Train，獲得了1992年美國最佳兒童科幻繪本獎（GOLDEN DUCK AWARDS).
