奧斯卡·雅各布生，瑞典著名漫畫大師，1898年出生于瑞典哥德堡。9歲時成了孤兒，13歲時靠給別人做工謀生，先后干過伐木工、鐵匠學徒、火車爐工。1919年開始學習繪畫，并在著名的《每日新聞》及其它報紙上陸續發表作品。1920年10月17日開始在《星期日——尼斯》幽默周刊上連載長篇連環漫畫《怪老頭》，自第二年起每年出版一個單行本，由此在全世界范圍內產生影響，成為歐洲漫畫寶庫中的經典之作。1925年至1926年，雅各布生在希臘、意大利旅行期間，創作了《怪老頭漫游記》?！豆掷项^》于1922年由美國統一新聞特稿社發行，更名為《不愛說的山姆》，但在1936年后競為當地漫畫家捉刀代筆，甚至加上背景和對話。1944年出版《怪老頭二十五年佳作選》。晚年，雖身患絕癥，仍致力于創作另一部漫畫——《阿布·法凱爾》，連載于《我們》報，第二年結集出版單行本。1945年年底去世。
